Allah blessed and favoured the Prophet Muhammad with al-Kawthar. Al-Kawthar refers to abundance and also to the pond that has sweet water originating from Jannah. Muslims will be blessed to drink from it on the Day of Qiyāmah. Likewise, knowledge is abundant and there is a certain sweetness to it, particularly the knowledge that takes a person closer to Allah and the Prophet. There is no end to Jannah, likewise the quest for knowledge is a continuous one. It is hoped that through this quest, we are guided in this world and by the mercy of Allah, we could enjoy the drink of al-Kawthar from the hands of the Prophet and eventually enjoy the abundant bounties in Jannah. The Centre aims to conduct lessons and advanced interdisciplinary research and innovation with the niyyah of it becoming a physical, educational, library and research structure in the future. While we have a few educational institutions, there is still no ‘hybrid’ focused on articulating and demonstrating Islam’s universal functional relevance in contemporary times. The Centre aims to:
Building networks to grow a community of practitioners, researchers and writers in Africa in particular but also internationally
Developing applied research to further the ‘preservation’ and ‘promotion’ of 5 strategic objectives (Maqasid); Faith, Life, Intellect, Progeny, Wealth in contemporary society. Publishing and promoting all that which serves the above
